APTS Spectrum JV Set to Revolutionise Australasian Pipeline Industry with Microwave NDT of Non-Metallics

APTS has joined forces with International industry experts Spectrum NDT, to implement an unseen level of non-metallic NDE and testing services to the Australasian market.

APTS Pty Ltd (APTS), the leading provider of Pressure Testing and conventional NDT services, has formed a Joint Venture with International expert Spectrum NDT to launch a revolutionary, industry-changing standard of testing within Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

This advanced and proven Microwave NDT technology surpasses the limited methods currently employed in Australia, by utilising highly sensitive electromagnetic inspection techniques.

Under an exclusive license, the microwave inspection technology confirms the integrity and quality of non-metallics including HDPE, Rubber, Fibreglass and Composite materials, delivering accurate inspection results for defects located on both the exterior and interior surfaces of non-metallic components. Teamed with industry leading experience, this new service ensures reliability and longevity of non-metallic components.

The proven technology, expertise and reporting package is a benefit across a number of key industries including, the Department of Defence, pipeline, mining, water treatment and oil and gas.

The technology detects the quality of fusions, material density, evidence of crystallinity, windowing, cold fusion in HDPE welds, misalignment, corrosion on steel pipe I.D. through a liner, corrosion on steel pipe O.D. through insulation, delaminations, disbonds, cracks, foreign material inclusions, voids (air bubbles, poor mixing, incomplete contact, lack of glue), changes in thickness, moisture and other liquid contamination.

This proven technology provides superior and more accurate reporting, increasing project success rates while significantly reducing operational and maintenance costs and liabilities.

These highly accurate services will provide industry operators with an opportunity to gain control of quality standards and allow for early detection of potential integrity defects ahead of project delivery.

The joint venture will align Australia with Europe and North America in driving a global standard of quality through ASME and ISO certification.

The technology is due to be launched in Australia in February 2016.

“This joint venture provides a prime opportunity for industry experts to collaborate and contribute to revolutionising the use and maintenance of non-metallic components in project delivery,” APTS Executive Director, Mr Paul Newbound commented.

“This unique service offering and commitment to focus on service will allow us to create consistent value for our customers by providing a full testing and QA process validation service uniquely designed to raise client confidence levels not previously experienced in the industry. Our client can rest assured someone is looking out for their best interest at every phase of the pipeline construction process with complete monitoring of personnel and environmental conditions,” he added.

APTS is a recognised industry leader with a reputation for delivering benchmark quality pipeline and pressure testing services over the last 12 years. This expertise and level of service, teamed with proven technology and methodology will directly address the apparent absence of reliable inspection and acceptance criteria of product delivery of non-metallic products, removing project accountability currently dependent on visual checks and contractor integrity.
